A new series of the BBC Alba programme Dàna - Scotland's Wild Side has launched, showcasing the finest climbing and hillwalking on some of the country's most remote mountains and adventurous sea cliffs.

To find out more about their latest escapades in the Highlands and Islands and the challenges of filming in Scottish weather, we sent some questions to star of the show Coinneach Rankin and series director Hamish Macleod.

Any plans to make Series 1 and 2 available on iPlayer (not just the wee clips)? They visit some great places and climbs.

Have been really enjoying the series.

I particularly like the combination of fantastic locations, the low key, quiet presentation style and the choice of routes, which are relatable to a non-elite climber like myself.

More please

This would be really good. I only caught the Mingulay one which was one of the best climbing films I think I've ever seen.

The current series has definitely moved on from the 1st two in terms of production and delivery - really enjoying it. The best thing about the Stoer episode was that they didn't climb the tourist route - they went up Diamond Face route - https://www.ukclimbing.com/logbook/crags/old_man_of_stoer-300/diamond_face_...

Really enjoyed the couple of these which I've seen. Managed to make sub-extremes look outrageous and got me really interested in visiting those places (and made me want to re-visit the ones I'd already been to!).

Tha sin math, ach am bu toil leibh ionnsachadh Gàidhlig fhathast?

Just watched the first episode of the series available. Excellent & inspirational!

If the first two series aren't available on iPlayer, is there any way of seeing them?

Really enjoyed this interview having caught series 1 and very lately a couple from series 3. Best outdoor program on telly, bar none, and as a refugee from the 80’s it still inspires me to get out there.

Long may you continue to do so.

In reply to Cam Forrest:

That’s down to the BBC higher ups apparently, but hopefully.

Is that really likely? The standard situation with many BBC shows is free access on Iplayer for a time limited period after broadcast then available to pay to steam via Brit Box or purchase on DVD.

In reply to UKC/UKH Articles:

Thanks for the heads up, just watched the first in the series and really enjoyed it.
