Climbing Technology New Click Up Colours and Tuner I Lanyard Gear News

The Climbing Technology Click Up is one of the most popular belay devices on the market. Spring 2022 sees the introduction of three new colours.

Known and appreciated for its smooth handling and compact design, the Click Up has gained many fans over the past few years. It's a safe and simple device that is easy to use. The rope feed is smooth and the braking technique is easy to master which makes the Click Up suitable for both beginners and experienced climbers.

The Click Up has won multiple awards over the years including Best in Test from UKC for the assisted braking belay device group test back in 2017.

The Click Up comes complete with the belay specific Concept HGL carabiner with a Hard Coated finish to increase durability and longevity. It's manufactured by CT in Italy and for 2022 the pretty reasonable RRP is held at £65.00.

Tuner I Lanyard

Also new for 2022 is the Tuner I. The Tuner I is an adjustable lanyard for mountaineering and rock climbing. It's main use is for securing oneself to a belay and being able to safely adjust your stance.

The device can be connected to the belay loop on the harness via a girth hitch. It's easy to adjust between 15 and 102cm and the release of the lanyard is simple and intuitive even under load, by holding the device with one hand only and using the release button.

RRP - £55

Both the Tuner I and the new Click Up will be available from Spring 2022.

Whoops, that's updated. Thanks.

Has UKC ever done a comparison review of the different adjustable lanyards? The only one I've had was a more diy affair with a Kong Slyde which I misplaced. I'm looking at doing more instructing work which is where these sort of things can be really handy but I don't really know which to go for.

We haven't done a group test like that previously. It's a good idea though so I'll add it to the list of potential future tests. Good luck finding a replacement.
